Nanaki's Quest

Cosmo CanyonAfter Red XIII, or Nanaki as he's called in his hometown of Cosmo Canyon, introduces you to the sentinel guarding the entranceyou'll be free to explore town. Talk to a man pacing in the center of town and he'll agree to fix your Buggy for you. In the meantime, head up the stairs Red XIII did and you'll end up in Tiger Lily's Arms Shop. Buy some weapons there, then head up to the observatory.

After the introductions are over, Begenhagen explains things to you, then asks you to find two of your allies to take up with you to the observatory. Do as he says (you'll find oyur allies strewn about Cosmo Canyon), then head up the observatory with him. He'll explain more things, then head over to the Cosmo Candle in the center of town.Cosmo Candle Speak to everyone there, then Bugenhagen appears. Form another party, in which Red XIII must be in. Then follow Bugenhagen up the stairs. Save the game before continuing, then continue up to the metallic door you might've noticed earlier. Follow Bugenhage through, heading down the series of vines and ladders to the Cave of the Gi.

Once at the bottom, head east and enter the first three rock holes, breaking apart the strange rocks you find within. Doing so, you'll encounter enemies, but you must do that in order to open up a passageway. Enter that passageway, and head to the west. Be sure not to run while on the oil or you'll slip and slam into spikes which will take away a lot of HP. If you make it safely through, head south to the next area and procure the Added Effect materia.

Head back north and cautiously cross the oil slick again. Head back to the east, then travel north, west, then north again along a stone path into a room with five holes.

Gi NattakExplore the area around a bit, finding tidbits of items strewn about here and there. Once you're through, enter the second hole fromthe left and cross the tow spider webs that stand in your way, defeating two huge and powerful spiders along the way. Once you're through with that, head north into the next area. There, you'll find a gruesome stone face, and Gi Nattak suddenly appears. The fight with that enemy boss seems hard, but to make things easier, throw an X-Potion or Elixir at it.

SetoFollow Bugenhagen up the stairs and Red XIII will then learn of the true heroics of his father, Seto. It turns out that Red XIII's father was not the coward his son thought him out to be but instead sacrificed his life to save Cosmo Canyon from the attacking Gi Tribe.

After that entire ordeal, talk to the mechanic and he'll tell you that your Buggy has been fixed. Head out and hop aboard your vehicle, traveling north across another river and to the town of Nibelheim.
