Sector 7 Plate
As you know by now, Shinra's planning to annihilate Sector 7 and put the blame on AVALANCHE (is that evil or what?). But there still might be time to save the rebels, who are now fighting in the plate. While Aeris stays behid to help the others, enter the now opened fence area with Tifa (you might want to save your game at this point) and descend the lengthy stairs to the top of the plate. There, you'll find Barret fending off Shinra forces. After a bit of conversation with him, Reno (the Turk from the church, remember?) appears and detinates the plate to be destroyed. Then you do battle with him. In that fight, destroy the Pyramid spells that imprison your allies by attacking them.
After you've dispatched Reno, you realize
it's too late as neither Tifa, Cloud, nor Barret can counteract
the controls. To make things worse, a helicopter with Tseng,
another Turk, appears, and guess who he's got: Aeris! He then
flies away, and you make like Tarzan and swing out of there as
the plate explodes and the sector is destroyed.
After that entire ordeal, head over to Wall Market and talk to the man in the western part of the weapon shop. Buy from him the three Batteries he found (you'll need 300 gil for this) and north until you find a bunch of kids playing in the northeast. Follow them east, then climb up the pipe. Continue climbing until you get to a jumble of trashed wires and machinery.
Head over to the first box in the southeast and place a battery there by pressing [OK]. The propeller turns for a while, then stops at just the right angle so that you can now use it to gain access to the next box on the train tracks to the west. Insert a battery there and an obstacle is raised. Go over the obstacle and up to a swinging metal wire. Jump on it just as it completes its arc and starts to head away from you. After doing so, climb it, then descend the thick wire where you'll find another box. Placing a battery in this box is optional, but gives you a worthwhile prize. After that, climb back down the wire and go north up the large pipe. You'll eventually end up at the foot of Shinra Tower, the heart of Midgar.
