City of the Ancients
Up ahead is the City of the Ancients, or
as the locals call it, the Forgotten City. Enter it then take the
left path at the fork. Enter the building to the north and save
the game at the Save Point. Afterwards, head east and east some
more to a chamber, then go north behind the stairs. Go down the
stone bridge and view the large crystal. After that, head back
for the fork at the entrance to the city.
Take teh east path and head east to a conical house, where you'll be able to find the Enemy Skill materia. Head back outside and north up the path and head to the house at the very center. Spend the night there, and at the next morning, you'll be awaken by a strange force beckoning you to come: Aeris!
Head back to the crossroads and take the northern path into the shell-shaped straucture. Enter that structure and you'll find the Comet materia within. Afterwards, climb down the long winding stairs that lead to the next area. In that next area, don't forget to save your game at the nearby Save Point before continuing on to Aeris, who can be found praying at the nearby altar.
Head down the two sets of stairs and hop
across the pebbles into the altar, where Aeris is praying.
Suddenly, a strange force overcomes Cloud, commanding him to kill
Aeris. Your allies call out to Cloud and plea for him to
stop, but Sephiroth then appears and gives
unto Aeris a fatal blow, and the mysterious White Materia falls
from her and into the water. Then, the JenovaLife boss
appears. Be sure to have Water Protection while fighting your
next enemy boss, and an Enemy Skill materia or two quipped as it
will cast the hard-to-get but powerful Aqualung enemy skill.
The scene then changes to Aeris' burial.
You and your allies say to her a sad good-bye in her aquatic
burial. Sad to say, but no matter what you do, there is no way to
get the beloved Aeris back.
Head back to the eastern portion of the Forgotten Capital and take the northeaster path. Climb the jagged vertebrae-like structure to the top, then head west into Corral Valley.
