The Gold Saucer
Welcome to the Gold Saucer, the happiest
place in FF7! Enjoy the theme park's sights and sounds, for a
price, of course. Talk to the woman at the Gold Saucer's entrance
and you'll find that a one-time ticket costs 3000 gil and a
lifetime pass costs 30,000. Pay up for whiever, then enter the
theme park. Explore around a bit and you'll learn more high-price
news: many of the attractions in the Gold Saucer accept only GP
(not gil). GP, by the way, can be won at the Wonder and Chocobo
Squares, or you can exchange gil for GP with a man that can
occasionally be found in the northern portion of the entrance (1
GP = 100 gil).
Once you're finished exploring, go to the Wonder Square, where you'll find the mischievous Cait Sith. Talk to him and he'll make a prediction about you. He then joins you to see if his prediction will come true. (Sounds like a pretty corny excuse, though...)
Explore around again if you'd like, and when you're ready, go to the Battle Square and you'll find that everyone there is dead. Sephiroth? No, because the bodies are bullet-riddled and Sephiroth wouldn't be as so crude to use a gun. Besides the near-death survivors report that it was a man with a gun-arm that attacked them. Barret...?
Well, before you have time to think things through, the Gold Saucer's owner, Dio (perhaps you've met him already at the Speed Square?), shows up with guards. A chase sequence begins, wherein you run to the arena. Bad choice as you're cornered there and subsequently thrown through the Gateway to Heaven.
